Asia's Next Top Model Cycle 2 Episode 2 Recap-Jodilly Pendre Bag 2nd Best Photo

The girls are back this week in an all new AsNTM. A short recap for you guys to avoid spoilers, One of the girls got so emotional after the first elimination then 'shades' started to brew within the girls, cat fights are soon to be seen when it come to it's boiling point I'm sure! The girls had a 'Selfie' challenge and then had a photo shoot with Filipino top photographer Mau Mauricio. Our country's best bets to win did great in the shoot especially Jodilly Pendre, she impressed this week's creative director Joey Mead-King and the panel of judges while Katarina Rodriguez (above photo) improved a lot after last week's not so good photo. Can our girls continue their way on the top? Meanwhile, some of the girls showed inconsistency especfially last week's best photo, Tia. In the end the girl with the least tasteful pose went home.

Anne Curtis is Dyesebel

After lots of speculations and excitement from the fans, the wait is over as ABS-CBN finally revealed the Kapamilya actress who will play the most popular mermaid in the Philippines, Dyesebel. Anne Curtis is the lucky lady who will swim as the pinay mermaid on the boob tube. Anne is not new in this kind of role as she already played a mermaid as one of her transformations in the teleserye 'Dyosa'. I personally had a lot of choices for the role and although Anne was not part of my 'faves' to play the role, Anne is still the best choice. It was also revealed that Anne was chosen based on marketing review and I totally agree on that. Anne is one of the biggest endorser in the country today and her celebrity status will attract a lot of new advertisers. I now see a lot of merchandise that will emerge in this teleserye like Dyesebel dolls and costumes. Anne is now added in the short list of popular actresses who played Dyesebel like Vilma Santos, Alma Moreno, Alice Dixon, Charlene Gonzales, Ara Mina and Marian Rivera. Dyesebel also stars Gerald Anderson and Sam Milby as Anne's leading men with Aiai de las Alas, Eula Valdez, Bangs Garcia (oooh, she is going to be a good villain!), Gabby Concepcion, Neil Coleta, Young JV, Ogie Diaz and Zsa Zsa Padilla. Dyesebel will premiere this summer in ABS-CBN Primetime Bida.

Kapuso Stars Top-Bills Horror Flick 'Basement'

From highly acclaimed horror director Topel Lee comes another scare for the big screen. 'Basement' is an indie film from Springboard film productions and Coffee House Productions, a horror flick that will surely scare you. The film stars Kapuso artists Aljur Abrenica, Kristoffer Martin, Louise delos Reyes, Enzo Pineda, Chynna Ortaleza, Dion Ignacio, Kevin Santos, Teejay Marquez, Ellen Adarna, Betong and Ms.Pilita Corales. A perfect post-Valentine film for  lovers and horror lovers (like me!). The movie is really intriguing, it shows in the trailer, it looks like a trilogy or something, I will post more about the film soon. Showing on February 12, 'Basement' is a movie that I will surely watch.

Asia's Next Top Model Episode 1 Recap and Photos

AsNTM started with much excitement from yours truly! The US counterpart wrapped up with Jourdan bagging the title and now it's Asia's turn to make a supermodel once again. Asia's Next Top Model cycle 2 premiered in Star World last January 8 and will premiere on TV5 next week, January 16th. The pilot episode was filled with fierceness, big personalities and excitement with double elimination and two Filipinas trying to bag the title. Jodilly Pendre (above photo) and Katarina Rodriguez are the two Pinays in this cycle. During the episode Jodilly showed a lot of potential by killing the runway challenge. The girls wore outfits designed by Gloria Mok. Katarina fell in the pool but Jessie's poor performance made her the first girl to go home. Hot photographer Mike Rosenthal did the first photo shoot with the girls wearing the designs of Inai Red. The girl who always seeks attention went home. Check out the photos from the said episode HERE. The winner of AsNTM cycle 2 will bring home a cash prize of 100,000 SGD, A Subaru XV car, a contract with Storm model management, a chance to appear in Harper's Bazaar Singapore/Malaysia and a chance to become the new face of Cannon IXUS and TRESemme.

'The Legal Wife' Starring Angel Locsin Trailer

There are a lot of things to be excited this 2014 and one of them is the barrage of lots of new teleseryes from different major networks. But only few emerged to be worth waiting. One of them is 'The Legal Wife'. Starring Angel Locsin, Jericho Rosales, JC de Vera and Maja Salvador. The teleserye will tackle different sides of love from family, friendzones, third party and marriage. This is also Angel Locsin's teleserye comeback and her fourth in the Kapamilya network. Angel will finally showcase her dramatic skills in a bigger way as 'The Legal Wife' is hardcore drama unlike her previous teleseryes like 'Lobo' and Imortal' which were fantaseryes and 'Only You' which was a light-drama series. Maja Salvador is also back in Primetime as the role that everybody wants to play, the Mistress. I love her scene with Angel at the end of the trailer. So fierce! 'The Legal Wife' also stars Christopher de Leon, Rio Locsin, Mark Gil, Maria Isabel Lopez, Joem Bascon and Ahron Villena. Directed by Rory Quintos and Dado Lumibao, 'The Legal Wife' will premiere in ABS-CBN's Primetime Bida this January. How fierce was Angel Locsin in the trailer?

Dsweetbox: Best Music Videos of 2013

Once again, it's time to countdown my faves from the past year and I will begin with my fave music videos. A lot of MV's was released last year but only few got my attention. I did my review and chose only the few who deserved to be commended. Based on repeat value, material, social impact and my nod, here are my top ten fave music videos of 2013. Make sure to sound-off yours!

12. Pink-'Just Give Me A Reason':

Although the album was released in 2012. The music video premiered in 2013. This is the duet of 2013. I heard and witnessed a lot of people doing their versions of this. Pink and Nate blended really well and the music video is also simple yet the powerful tandem of Pink and Nate elevated the class of their MV. 'That Teddy's glowing eyes were creepy and haunting.'

11. One Direction-'Best Song Ever':

Who doesn't love One Direction? This is the best and the funniest MV from the number one boy band of today (I love you Harry!) LOL! 'Go Leroy!'

10. Britney Spears-'Work Bitch':
The Queen of Pop returned this year with a very controversial music video. Not just that Brit introduced the whip and gave a sickening comeback, the MV was also controversial because of it's plagiarism issues from different artists. 'You better Work B...'

9. Miley Cyrus-'We Can't Stop':
I know, Miley ruled the music video scene this year, remember when you first saw this video and tried to understand where Miley was coming from but later on enjoyed watching it and found yourself watching it again...and again? 'Where is that white outfit? I need one'

8. Justine Timberlake-'Mirrors':
This is the best Justine Timberlake video ever! With a storyline and a concept based in his own experiences. 'Mirrors' is the most dramatic MV I watched last year. 'Its Like you're my mirror...'

7. Sarah Geronimo-'Ikot-Ikot':
The only OPM in this countdown, Sarah Geronim ruled the scene with her song 'Ikot-Ikot'. I love the song and the MV showed a sickening dance routine. 'Ikot ikot lang, ikot ikot, ikwoot!'

6. Ru Paul-'The Beginning':
The song gave me LSS for months and it's on my playlist up to this moment. With the addition of Ru Paul's Drag Race queens and comedy in the vid, 'The Beginning' is the best gay song of 2013! 'I love Jinkx Monsoon!'

5. Katy Perry-'Unconditionally':
Katy Perry never fails to impress me with her music videos, she always make the song elevate to a certain level every time she released the MV of a single. In addition, Katy's 'Unconditionally' is my fave from her Prism album. 'The Great Gatsby'

4. Bruno Mars-'Gorilla':
This is the sexiest I've seen of Bruno Mars and that Isabella is HOT! With sexy dancers, sweaty Bruno and car sex. This is one music video to watch! 'Pole dancing in slow motion please...'

3. Miley Cyrus-'Wrecking Ball':
I'm sure you already know that this one is going to be part of the top ten! Miley dominated vevo last year as this MV is the most watched music video of 2013. Personally, I love the song, actually I love the album! Miley gave me the reason to respect her. Who doesn't like to chop hteir hair and ride that wrecking ball? 'sledgehammer please...'

2. Latch ft. Sam Smith-'Disclosure':
I have to search who this artist is after watching the video. The MV is full of moments that I can relate to! LOL! What made this music video the second best fave MV of mine? It got me in slow motion kissing and steaming strangers hook-ups.  The music video is simple but full of, well you will know what I mean, watch it!!  'Elevator scene anyone?' LOL!

1. Beyonce-'Pretty Hurts':
No questions ask! Queen Bey arrived before the year end and dropped a big and awesome album that made all the divas who released an album the same year obsolete! With 17 music videos all of them should be in my top no.1 spot! Haha! But the best for me is her single 'Pretty Hurts'. Powerful, Engaging and flawsome. 'Pretty Hurts' is my number one music video from 2013!  'Pageant the Pain Away...'

Two Pinay Will Compete in Asia's Next Top Model Cycle 2

One of the reason why 2014 is packed with good stuff is the return of Asia's Next Top Model. The second cycle is bigger and fiercer with Nadya Hutagalung as returning host/judge. Joey Mead-King also returns as mentor/judge, ANTM familiar photographer, Mike Rosenthal is a new addition in this cycle (God he is HOT!). Two Filipina will try their very best to win the coveted title, they are Jodilly Pendre and Katarina Rodriguez (above photo). Seeing this batch based on the video, this cycle is going to be cutthroat. Can Jodilly and Katarina bag the title? Last cycle, Stephanie Retuya made it as 1st runner-up. I have high hopes with Jodilly and Katarina. Check out the videos below to meet the girls and sound-off who is your bet? Catch Asia's Next Top Model as it premiere on January 8, 2014 only on Star World.

DChatbox with Ms.Incontinental 3rd Runner-Up Koreen Medina

From 'My Girl' to Mutya ng Pilipinas to being the 3rd Runner-up in the recent Miss Intercontinental pageant held in Germany. Koreen Median truly exudes beauty with her grace and glam. I had the chance to chat with the 18-years-old stunner and she shared her pageant experiences and how she manage to bag the crown with her little experience and self-esteem. Koreen is so pretty and well postured, no wonder she bag the crown. Check out DChatbox with Koreen Medina below!

It was truly a pleasure meeting her, I even showed her my pageant queen photos! She liked them. Thanks Koreen and hope to see more of you this 2014!

Beyonce is a Pageant Girl in 'Pretty Hurts' Music Video

My uber fave track from Beyonce’s latest work of art/album is the very moving and very powerful single ‘Pretty Hurts’.  The anthemic song gave such beautiful and awakening message from Queen Bey. With lines like ‘Perfection is the Disease of the Nation…’ and ‘…tryna fix something that you can't fix, what you can't see, is the soul that need the surgery…’ Beyonce really made a classic in this one; my fave line from the song is ‘Just another Stage, Pageant the Pain Away…’  Sia Furler co-wrote the album and I’ve learned that Sia is really a great songwriter, every time that her name is on the song; it is going to be a sure classic. No doubt, ‘Pretty Hurts’ will go down the history as one of Beyonce’s best song ever. I also love the music video, Bey is her other alter ego (aside from Sasha Fierce) Miss 3rd Ward. Bey tackles the reality in pageantry and how beauty and perfection is the important in the glitz and glamorous world of beauty pageants. I can so truly relate to this song, I recently joined a beauty pageant I can say that ‘Pretty Hurts’ is a perfect anthem for me now, LOL! But seriously, Beyonce really hit the mark with ‘Pretty Hurts’, so my question to you now is, ‘What is your aspiration in life?’ Beyonce's new visual album entitled, 'Beyonce' is now available for download in Itunes.

LYRICS:

Mama said, you're a pretty girl
what's in your head, it doesn't matter
brush your hair, fix your teeth
what you wear is all that matters

Just another stage
pageant, the pain away
this time i'm gonna take the crown
without falling down, down, down

Pretty hurts
and shine the light on whatever's worth
perfection is a disease of a nation
pretty hurts, pretty hurts
Pretty hurts
and shine the light on whatever's worth
and tryna fix something that you can't fix
what you can't see, is the soul that need the surgery

Blonder hair, flat chest
TV says bigger is better
soft beach, sugar free
vogue says thinner is better

Just another stage
pageant, the pain away
this time i'm gonna take the crown
without falling down, down, down

Pretty hurts
and shine the light on whatever's worth
perfection is a disease of a nation
pretty hurts, pretty hurts
Pretty hurts
and shine the light on whatever's worth
and tryna fix something that you can't fix
what you can't see, is the soul that need the surgery

Ain't got no doctor or therapeutic that can take the pain away
The pain's inside
And nobody frees you from your body
It's the soul that needs surgery
It's my soul that needs surgery
Plastic smiles and denial can only take you so far
And you break when the paper signs need you in the dark
You left a shattered mirror
And the shards of a beautiful girl

Pretty hurts
and shine the light on whatever's worth
perfection is a disease of a nation
pretty hurts, pretty hurts
Pretty hurts
and shine the light on whatever's worth
and tryna fix something that you can't fix
what you can't see, is the soul that need the surgery

When you'r alone all by yourself
And you're lying in your bed
Reflection stares right into you
Are you happy with yourself
It's just a way to masquerade
The illusion has been shed
Are you happy with yourself
Are you happy with yourself
Yes...
